Our club is situated in the Tamar Valley, in northern Tasmania, Australia. It was founded in 1963 and has been at the Edinburgh Park grounds at Gravelly Beach since 1971.
The West Tamar Pony & Riding Club caters for riders of all ages up to 25 years of age, and for riders of any experience from complete beginners to the experienced rider. Young riders should be able to control their pony at a walk and trot, or be on a lead rein.
We meet on the first Sunday of each month, with gear inspection at 9.30. Our rallies generally consist of 4 lessons, which include theory, jumping, cross country, flatwork, and others. The West Tamar Pony & Riding Club holds an annual instructional summer camp for 3 days in January each year. This is held at the Pony Club grounds at Gravelly Beach.
The West Tamar Pony & Riding Club has many excellent facilities including two sand dressage arenas, one belongs to the club and the use of a second arena built at Edinburgh Park by the Northern Dressage Association. West Tamar PC feels privileged to have the use of this second arena for rallies and events. Other club facilities at Edinburgh Park include a mini cross-country course, a large well drained riding area, horse yards, round yard, a canteen with full kitchen facilities and a hall with showers and wheelchair access toilet amenities.
